Welcome to the Shoot for Good Photographer's Retreat Info Hub!

Join us November 7–8 at Layton House for Shoot for Good — a weekend for photographers to slow down, connect deeply, and create with purpose.
It’s not about hustle or perfection, but about community, creativity, and using your craft for something that matters.

This isn’t another workshop about algorithms or hustle. It’s a weekend to reconnect with your creativity, build community, and use your craft in ways that make a real impact — both for your business and your local community.

Hosted by photographer Marquette Mower and Karen Fox of Layton House, Shoot for Good is designed to help photographers grow their confidence, strengthen their storytelling skills, and walk away inspired by what can happen when we rise together.

You’ll learn, rest, and create — and you’ll leave with new work, new friends, and a renewed sense of purpose behind the camera.

The price

We believe investing in your creativity shouldn’t feel out of reach — that’s why we’re currently offering this at a fraction of what it’s actually worth. Because we’d rather build something meaningful with you now than wait until it’s “perfect” later.

If you were to individually book a headshot session, attend two professional workshops, stay overnight with meals, and get in person feedback on work, the total cost would be over $1,300. But this first-year retreat is about planting seeds for our local creative community. Because this is our very first Shoot for Good retreat and the timing is so soon, we’re offering a special launch rate — it may never be this low again!

Tell a Story. Make an Impact.

Throughout the weekend you’ll take part in the Homegrown Stories Challenge — a creative opportunity and competition to capture what makes small-town life beautiful.
Each photographer will create a series of images from:
  • Layton House (your retreat home)
  • A local business or rural space
These photos will be shared with the local businesses you feature and featured in Layton House’s future marketing — giving your work real-world visibility and purpose.

And because we believe that giving leads to growth, one participant will receive a special thank-you for their creativity and heart:

The Homegrown Stories Challenge

The winning photographer will receive a free brand photography session with Marquette LaRee — a full Stacks Session ($650 value) to elevate your own business and visuals.

And because growth comes through action, all photographers who complete the full Homegrown Stories Challenge will receive a $75 credit toward booking their own Stacks session within 12 months — our way of cheering you on as you keep creating with purpose.
